…Another Quick Tip Thursday

Hello! Happy Thursday!! I have a quick tip to share today…but before I do, I want to talk about my AMAZING Wednesday yesterday! My husband planned an awesome day trip for us after our lil firecracker had to get blood drawn at the doctor (OUCH!).  We went to the Catoctin Wildlife Preserve and Zoo (www.cwpzoo.com) in Thurmont, Maryland (about an hour from our house).  I just love zoos and aquariums (basically anything animal related lol…its part of that science geek thing)… I would definitely recommend going to this zoo!!! It was incredible.  The walking paths were rocks, so you really felt like you were walking through their habitat (or “walking through the jungle” as my daughter said lol).  Also, majority of the exhibits were interactive meaning you could feed a lot of their animals.  So, a word of advice if you visit, bring LOTS of QUARTERS! My favorite part and the section my daughter had the most fun at were the 2 Koi Fish Ponds.  However, at one of the Koi Ponds we experienced nature and wildlife at its finest when a snake came out of the water with its lunch (aka a fish).   It was amazing to witness, but also scary at the same time.  IT GOT REAL OUT THERE lol.  The second Koi Pond has lots of fish and they would splash like crazy, which my daughter just loved!!!  And the grand finale of our visit was seeing the giraffe, which is the one animal my daughter really wanted to see.  Our next visit will include a safari ride (not recommended for pregnant women :-/) which will make it even more interactive! Anyhow…that was enough about our Wednesday.  Here are a few pictures of our visit.

So, as far as my quick tip, it is more in line to newborn life.  Recently I have been racking my brain trying to remember “newborn” life.  All I can remember is colic, minimal sleep, and a delicious smelling baby lol.  So, I have been trying to recollect tips or tricks I used to survive this time.  One tip that stands out is one that my go-to Mommy advisor (besides my Mom, of course), my best friend who is working on number 3, told me about giving vitamins.  Our lil firecracker had really really bad colic for 4 hour periods EVERYDAY! It was a very trying time, so anything that would exacerbate that…we tried to avoid! Hence…giving vitamins was sometimes not done because it would set of a loooooooooooooooooong crying spell!! Anyhow, my Awesome Mommy advisor suggested giving the vitamins in a nipple instead of the dropper provided by the packaging.  GENIUS! It worked! I would just take a clean nipple not attached to a bottle or anything and put the vitamins inside and gave it to her!  That was one thing we could check off our list that would send her into a colic frenzy! So, I just had to share that quick tip.  Please share any newborn tips as I prepare for my little Prince.  No, like seriously, please share ANY TIPS or TRICKS! I am at a complete loss right now.  My focus has been on potty training, phonics, and reviewing letters, shapes, and numbers.  So, any tip will help. Thanks in advance!
