Summer Fun 2016

With the summer coming to an end, lets recap just how amazing the summer season can be.

One of our first adventures was to the Seven Oaks Lavender Farm in Catlett, Va.  Its a scenic drive through Virginia’s countryside.  Here, my little ones experienced the wonderful smells of lavender with a touch of farm life and hard work!

We also experienced our first lavender cupcake and lavender lemonade! 😋😋  The farm is a nice fun experience for kids.  Kids can learn about lavender, make some crafts, and even play in life size playhouse.  The store contains anything imaginable with lavender infused in it! I love lavender and the color purple, so this was a great experience for me as well.

We also experienced Montgomery County Heritage Days.  Montgomery County designates the last weekend in June to highlight their history! We visited a few sites and had a great time.

My lil firecracker was able to experience toys and games for kids from around the turn of the century at Oakley Cabin. Ironically, she had a great time playing with them. ☺️

We also had a wild adventure to the Reston Zoo! We talked to some Australian lorikeets and feed a camel! Who knew that camels like to eat carrots!

There is also a safari ride and a petting zoo! We had a blast!!! We did not do the safari ride this time, but are planning on going back when the weather is a little cooler.

We made a few visits to the U.S Botanic Garden. We wanted to smell the corpe’s flower and wonder at its size! When my daughter got a whiff of the flower, she said “That’s disgusting” 😂😂😂😂😳.   My kids also had an amazing time in their childrens garden!

We always have to make a trip to Brookside Gardens! I just love this garden and nature center.  There is a playroom in the nature center and some animal exhibits.

We had an amazing family trip to the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art and the Turquoise Mountain Exhibit. The African Srt Museum has a large playroom dedicated to kids, so my duo played around in their and learned more about Africa.

We could not miss the National Building Museum Iceberg Exhibit.  It exemplified the wonders of architecture.

Our latest adventure was in Richmond, Va. We had the pleasure of briefly exploring the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden. This huge garden has a koi pond, butterfly exhibit, and childrens garden.  We didnt get to every part, so are definitely going to make a trip back!
