Happy Hip Hop Hump Day

Happy Hump Day! Sorry, that I have been away.  I really wanted to make a post yesterday, but I was having some cramping (and at 34 weeks, I don’t think that’s good, so I rested all day).  Anyhow, How is everybody doing? Happy Hump Day, which I have decided to declare Hip Hop Hump Day! Unfortunately, this week I do not know a specific Hip Hop infused topic to discuss because I was rather busy this weeknd with our baby shower that I mentioned (we will discuss that in a little bit) but I do have something VERY INTERESTING in the works…so stay tuned! However, I can give a brief snippet of my upcoming post for Spanish (Espanol) Saturdays… Tell me what you think thus far of my coloring sheet and Spanish command.  Abre mean open.  I decided to focus on commands because as you know as a parent we give simple commands at least 3000 times a day might as well make it fun by saying them in another language!

Anyhow, I will have letters A-H ready for this Saturday! But you are more than welcome to provide any feedback between now and then!! I am here to listen and love comments/critiques.  J So, back to our baby shower.  This past Sunday, we had our baby shower to welcome our newest bundle! We held the event at my Moms house and it was a Prince of the Jungle theme.  The theme is a continuation from our daughters 2nd birthday party, which was a Safari Theme (I am not too proud to recycle the leftovers and remix it into something new.  Frugal can be fancy too lol).  For her birthday party, we paper mached a turtle, giraffe, zebra, and elephant so the children would feel that they were experiencing a true safari (In the future, I will post a tutorial for all 4 animals… It was a lot of fun and a lot of mess creating them, which my daughter just loved.)

Above are a few pictures from Cataleya’s Safari Party! The little ones were really excited to see the animals. They also made binoculors to look at the animals and I made little “passports” for them to stamp after a visit with each animal.  It was a great time, but I digress.  Back to the shower! Since this was baby number 2, we decided to have a fairly small shower and only invited family.  It made it much more initimate and less stressful lol.  Here’s a quick look at my decorations and the awesome power of a Cricut!

For the actual party, I created party games (which I love to create and play) that included some for my husband.  I have been to baby showers where everything is geared towards the Mother and the Baby and poor Dad is forgotten! So, I really want my Navy Guy to be included so I created a “Claros Family Trivia” game.  The participants had to answer some fairly general and very G rated questions about us lol.  Like birthday, first job, alma mater, etc! Our next game was strictly for my husband.  For some odd reason, he loves the Fast and Furious franchise of movies, so I created a game that was a list of Vin Diesel one liners from the 7 (I think) movies  and people had to guess which movie of the franchise the one liner was from.  He loved it! The main event game was my Hip Hop game! Between my husband and I we picked our Top 5 favorite rap songs of all time.  I typed up a few song lines from the 10 songs, printed them out.  We divided our guest into 2 groups and gave 5 verses per team.  Each person on the team had to get up and rap the verse and their team members had to guess the artist, song, and if it was a song that I or my husband picked.  This game proved to be fairly entertaining, especially listening to people RAP! It was so awesome! Tell me if you have made any unique party games that you are excited and very proud to share! It doesn’t have to be for a baby shower, any event!!  I hope you enjoyed reading about my baby shower as much as I enjoyed planning and participating in it.  See you soon and again, have a Happy Hump Day!!

  1. The baby shower games sound like they were so much fun! And I think the continuation of the theme was a great idea! Also, I love the coloring sheet. Will you make it in French too please? lol I look forward to learning commands in Espanol right along with Cataleya.

    1. Awwwe! Thank you so much for reading and leaving a comment! Your feedback is wonderful. I guess I could learn some French while I am “teaching” Spanish to challenge myself! What a great idea!!!! It would not hurt for Cataleya to learn some French too!!! 🙂
