Chalkboard + Spray Bottle= Fun (and Learning)

Sight words learn to read early education preschool

Well, hello! Like most toddlers, my daughter is attracted to making a mess! And if water is included, she just loves it!!! So, that brings me to our latest learn through play activity.  We have been working on sight words and reviewing number recognition. So, here is a fun way she learned!

Supplies

  • Chalkboard
  • Chalk
  • Spray bottle
  • Water
  • Towel or paper towel

Directions

  1. Draw a few words, numbers,or letters on the chalkboard.

2. Call out a particular word, letter, or number to your little one.

3.  When your little one recognizes the word, letter, or number, have them spray it. Toddler Sight Word Activity

4.  Repeat steps 1-3 until every word, letter, or number is gone. The chalkboard will be pretty much saturated with water at this point, so make sure to have a towel or paper towels near.

BONUS!
This activity is also a great sensory activity for babies!! While my lil firecracker sprayed the water, my little guy just splashed his hands in the water. They were able to play together and it entertains them both!!!! Awesome win/win! And ai am pretty sure he learned some words too! 😉

My daughter truly loves this activity ! It is super quick and easy to set up. We have done it several times and each time, she really has a blast! How are you teaching your little one to read? We are also practicing phonics, which my lil guy just loves to hear us make varying letter sounds! Any tips on how to teach a little one to read? Any resources that you know of that you would like to share?! When you do this activity, make sure to post a picture of your fun on my Facebook Page!
