Whenever we are in the car, our preferred listening entertainment is usually a podcast. Children’s music with a dope beat is very limited. We love PJ Panda and Gracie’s corner but for longer trips, those playlists get redundant so we turn on a podcast.
We listen to a lot of STEM based podcasts and learn lots of scientific facts a long the way. My favorite STEM based podcasts are:
- Wow in the World
- Brains On
- Who Smarted?
- Tumble Science Podcast For Kids

All of these podcasts will keep you and your kiddos entertained and learn some science information along the way. Wow In the World also provides opportunities for children to call in and have their voices heard on episodes. We listen to all of these podcasts on Apple Podcasts or Spotify however Wow In the World also has episodes on YouTube of the recordings.
My mom was a history teacher, so in addition to being a science geek, I also enjoy history. There are a few podcasts that dive into history specifically for kids. My favorite history podcast is Forever Ago. Who Smarted?, a podcast listed in the STEM category, also includes some episodes that explore history. Another podcast with a historical angle, though it leans more toward biography is Whose Amazing Life. We also like to listen to Who, When, Wow for some funny history knowledge.
- Forever Ago
- Whose Amazing Life
- Who, When, Wow!

If you in the car for a quick trip to the store, Moment of Um is the perfect podcast. My preschooler loves this podcast. Episodes are between 5-8 minutes and it was the perfect amount of time for drop off and pick up times. Moment of Um answers a question that a curious kid called into the show and is answered is a quick one to three minutes.

If you kids are into mythology, specifically Greek mythology, we have listened to two really good podcasts bout this subject. Warning: some of the content is violent however National Geographic: Greeking Out does a good job of expressing any sensitive topics at the be gift of the episode.

There is a Greek mythology facts book published by National Geographic based on the podcast.
Additionally, The Greeking Out podcast also has a book series that complements the podcast and follows animals at a pet store.

If you want to raise great debaters, SMASH, BOOM, BEST is the podcast for you. It is a fun and imaginative podcast that has guest hosts debate topics. You will also learn some debate techniques and terminology along the way.

Just want to hear a good story with a great morale message, CIRCLE ROUND. should be added to your podcast line up.

There are lots of wonderful podcasts available for children. These are the ones that we have enjoyed the most. What podcasts would you and to this list and recommend? Let me know in the comments.
Take care,
