The Start of an Amazing Revolution

…well Hello! How are you? I am well. So, after my last post about “Baby Watch 2015” I went into labor (maybe it was the post lol). First and foremost, I have to give a humble thank you to God for this wonderful blessing!! I am still humbled by His grace, especially for me and my family.  And I am doubily humbled that He allowed me to have my birth plan to come to fruition. …well, not my exact birth plan but we all know any birth plan does not go as planned.

My first birth plan was to have a typical hospital birth with an epidural..etc, but ended up having an emergency C-section.  This experience was kind of traumatic, but nonetheless a beautiful blessing was bestowed upon us, our lil firecracker!!  So, this time around I “planned” for a trial of vaginal labor after C-section (TOLAC), but with the realization that a C-section was very likely. The idea of a TOLAC was first brought to my attention by my amazing best friend (yet again, did I tell you she was awesome). She had a TOLAC with her second baby 3 days prior to me having my first,so that planted the seed in my head that avoiding a repeat C-section is possible.  Fast forward, I reseached it like crazy and decided I wanted a natural hospital birth, meaning no medical interventions (like drugs, pain meds, etc) in a hosptial setting.  However, there was one key factor that was missing for me, I didnt know what an actual contraction felt like.  How is this possible? Lol. For my first delivery with my daughter, my water broke and I was induced, got the epidural and didnt feel much pain.  So, when I actually went into labor this time, I was really questioning was this actual labor or Braxton Hicks. Also, my doctor stressed that my contractions needed to be 5 minutes apart for 2 hours.  So, lets just say after a few hours of contractions, we showed up to the hospital around 130 in the morning, 10 centimeters dilated with the only option of pushing Baby Boy Claros out! And at 0207 our newest addition arrived!!

Now that he is here, any newborn tips you would like to share? I must still have pregnancy brain because I feel like I dont know what I am doing all over again! But I did perfect my swaddling technique with my daughter and her new thing is to asked to be swaddled! But it doesnt work quite the same with her 😏😂😂😂. Anything new and exciting happen to you recently? At work? With your family? Don’t hesitate to share! Now that my guy is here, I shall have more time to work on my homeschooling and can share with you soon!! Thanks for staying in touch.

Enjoy!

  1. He’s beautiful! Congrats! Remember, sleep when he sleeps (if your daughter will let you). Snuggling is great, but allow him to sleep in his own space as much as possible so he can get used to that feeling. If people ask what they can do to help, tell them to bring food or babysit your daughter 😉

    1. Thanks for the advice!!! I am trying to get as much sleep as possible and my husband has been great. Any advice on how to transition my daughter? She is so accustomed to having my undivided attention, so she is having an interesting time.

      1. Yes, let her help with the baby. Ask her to hand you a diaper. Let her wipe the baby when you’re bathing him. Get her big sister books. Have special time with her. Emphasize, only big sisters can eat big girl food.
